When describing the mantra that combat most athletes have when they train in this day and age, it can be pretty easily summed up by a few basic popular adages: “Go Hard or go home”, “Grind over everything”, “No Pain, No Gain”. They want to outwork the competition, but in the process, often end up overworking themselves. Sure they train hard, but do they always train smart?

In modern combat sports, injury rates are higher than they’ve ever been. There’s only so much work an athlete can put in before the body simply can’t adapt anymore. We see fancy training schemes that allow combat athletes to be training more than ever, yet only a lucky few seem to be truly benefitting from this. They want to get the most out of their athlete in each session they have with them.

Under-recovery is one of the biggest dangers for an athlete’s long term success.
When an athlete doesn’t give themselves the appropriate stimulus & time for recovery, they severely limit their ability to get results. What’s more is that they also significantly increase their chances of injury, running the gauntlet each time they train or perform.
When we think session to session or work with multiple coaches, under-recovery is almost guaranteed. Often, one coach has no idea what other training their athlete is doing resulting in lots of poor quality training & poor quality results. This poor quality of training is the thing that kills long term athletic performance & stops athleticism dead in its tracks.
The key to avoiding this is to have a consistently changing approach to your training. You need varied stimuli. Peaks and troughs. Time to go hard & time to pull back. That’s why we put a premium on testing and scheduling at Ethos.

To start you off in our athlete program, we will run you through our comprehensive testing protocol. This includes a complete performance analysis & injury risk profiling to help you reach your peak.

From working with the coaches at the top of their field, to training with champions Ethos has the resources you need to get your mind right.
We now work with you & where you’re at to create the perfect map of your training program over the course of your career. Our expert coaches will take all of your goals into account, giving you the absolute best possible program to help you reach your performance goals.
You then come into our world-class facility to train with us in person, using state of the art techniques & equipment that you won’t find anywhere else. Every session is supervised by our Ethos coaching team so you are always training at your best.
As one of our athletes, you will have unlimited support from our expert team, including physiotherapists, S&C coaches & dieticians. All of these coaches work in sync to help ensure your plan as optimised. Our programs aren’t simply a ‘one & done’ approach. We recognise things will need to change, so in being one of our athletes we will be constantly monitoring your performance & feedback to tweak the prorgam to optimally suit your needs.
