General Physical Preparation Stage: > 8 weeks out from a competition

General Physical Preparation basically means "building the base". We want you to be fitter, faster, and stronger so that you can do everything. Think of it as the best of all worlds. The kind of program you need to be doing so you can be ready when it counts. It will address your weak points, improve key areas & help to prevent injury.

There is more volume in a GPP program as we generally build your strength, tissue resilience, muscle mass & overall cardio capacity.

We suggest cycling between the 3 GPP Programs every 4 weeks as you progress through. Once your fight is announced, please let the team know so we can switch you over to the appropriate fight prep program.

Most fighters we see start S&C training once a fight is announced, and to us, this means you're missing out on all of the groundwork out of camp. Use this time to get ahead of the competition.

Specific Fight Prep Stage 1: 4-8 Weeks Out From Competition

The fight date is clear! 4 to 8 Weeks out.

This program begins to reduce training volume and ramp up the specificity of training, making sure we capitalise on the gains made in the prior phase.

With the fight getting closer, we understand things need to change. We begin to implement more explosive and power-based training methods.

Ethos Athletes such as George Kambosos Jr. still employ the techniques taught in this program to this date despite being world champions.

Specific Fight Prep Stage 2: 0-4 Weeks Out From Competition

The final stage of comp prep. This is where we really ramp things up, focusing on speed, power & overall explosiveness.

We will keep things incredibly specific to your upcoming bout, ensuring you’re ready to go once the big night arrives. There will also be some specific fight prep primers included which are optional, but a great way to level up your fight prep.

Once you finish this stage we suggest you let our team know and go back to the appropriate GPP stage based on the level you’re currently at (refer to our strength standards table to identify your specific standards).
